I Heart Kings Cross

....a fabulous project...part of the Sydney Art and About Festival.October 2009. ....this project exposed yarn  as an art medium and the skill of knitting as an artistic form of expression. .
I cannot say enough about the worthwhileness of this project.

The trees in the Fitzroy Gardens were the central feature and they were amazing. Plenty of great pics on the website below.

I have featured here some of the works that I was involved with.

the daisy bush - roots and all

who knows

this was meant to be a flower pot.....but it was installed upside down...oh well

this was knitted with the leftovers from my mother-of-the-groom dress

the fickle fingers of fate

the Sun

'The Sun' a piece about 2 metres x 1.5 ... mostly knitted from scraps, it represents the variation in the colours of the landscape that is the result of rain or not. It's end use was to be a blanket for the homeless...however...
It hung on the rock outside the Piccolo Bar for almost 3 weeks before it was destroyed by fire.
